Health Provider Sets Sights on New Hospital in Chippewa Falls
Chippewa Falls, WI, USAThu Nov 14 2024
In a surprising move, Aspirus Health, a major healthcare provider based in Wausau, Wisconsin, has announced its plans to build a new hospital in Chippewa Falls. This comes after the shutdown of HSHS hospitals in the Chippewa Valley back in March 2024, leaving the area without vital emergency and inpatient services.
Matt Heywood, the President and CEO of Aspirus Health, explained that their initial response was to expand services in nearby towns like Stanley and Medford. But now, they're ready to take a bigger step. After thorough research and productive chats with local officials, Aspirus has drawn up plans for a new facility that will offer emergency care, inpatient services, and primary care all under one roof.
Aspirus Health isn't new to the game. With 18 hospitals and over 130 outpatient locations already in operation, they've got the experience to handle the challenges that come with setting up a new hospital in a difficult area. Jim Matheson, the Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, is confident that Aspirus can make this work.
The plans for the new hospital and clinic are already in place, and if everything goes smoothly, it could be up and running in just 18 months. However, this depends on getting the necessary approvals.
