Health Tech Savvy: Comparing Short and Long eHealth Literacy Tests

GreeceSat Jan 18 2025
The COVID-19 pandemic pushed healthcare into the digital age, but not everyone is equally tech-savvy. While tools like eHeals help measure eHealth literacy, newer tests are popping up. A recent study in Greece validated both the original eHeals and a revised version, eHeals-Extended, to see how they stack up. Nearly 400 participants filled out these tests along with another health literacy questionnaire. The results? Both tests had good reliability. The original eHeals had two main dimensions with high internal consistency. The revised version, however, dug deeper, finding five key factors like online resource awareness and information validation skills. These tests could be game-changers in both clinics and research, giving healthcare pros a better gauge of patients' digital health skills.

questions

How do the dimensions measured by the revised eHeals-Extended compare to other frameworks of digital literacy?
Are the differences in the scales a result of deliberate manipulation to influence healthcare policies?
How do the psychometric properties of the eHeals compare to those of other eHealth Literacy measurement tools?
