Heavy Rains Bring Floods to the Pacific Northwest

The Pacific Northwest is dealing with serious flooding after a lot of rain. This happened because of something called an atmospheric river. Imagine a river in the sky, that's what it is. It brings lots of water vapor and can cause heavy rain. Two of these rivers hit the area one after the other. This made the flooding worse. Washington and Oregon got the worst of it. Some places saw more than 3 inches of rain in just 10 hours. That's a lot of water! The rain made rivers and streams overflow. This caused roads to flood. People had to use boats to get around. Pictures show cars half-submerged in water. It looks pretty bad. The good news is that the rain should stop soon. The weather service says things will dry out by the weekend. But until then, people need to be careful. Flooding can be dangerous. It's important to stay safe and follow any warnings. This isn't the first time this has happened. The Pacific Northwest often gets a lot of rain. But this time, it was extra heavy. That's why the flooding was so bad. It's a reminder of how powerful nature can be.
