A big winter storm is heading to New York City and nearby areas. It will bring a lot of snow from Friday evening to Saturday morning. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning. This means people should be ready for tough travel conditions. The storm will start in the afternoon on Friday. It will get stronger by 8 p. m. and last until early Saturday morning. At its worst, it could snow 1 to 2 inches per hour. This will make driving very dangerous. Eastern Long Island and eastern Connecticut will also see less snow. By Saturday morning, the snow could turn to a mix of rain and ice. Temperatures will stay cold, so the snow won't melt much. On Sunday, temperatures will rise into the 40s. There might be some rain and ice in the north and west. But another cold blast is coming for the end of 2025.
