Helping Hands Under Fire: Veterans Targeted in Gaza Aid Mission
Two honored American veterans found themselves in harm's way while attempting to bring relief to those in need in Gaza. They were part of a group called the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), backed by the U.S. and Israel.
The Attack
While distributing food to the needy, the veterans were targeted with grenades packed with tiny metal balls, causing severe injuries. Fortunately, they are now receiving medical care and are in stable condition.
Warnings and Threats
GHF had previously warned about such attacks, stating that Hamas, the group controlling Gaza, had threatened to attack anyone providing aid, including Americans and local workers. After the attack, GHF released images of the grenade fragments, claiming they were manufactured in Iran and frequently used by Hamas.
Reactions and Accusations
Rev. Johnnie Moore, leader of GHF, criticized the media and the U.N. for legitimizing Hamas by repeating its propaganda, which he believes encourages such attacks.
U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, condemned the attack, stating that Hamas punishes acts of kindness, citing this incident as another example.
The Israeli military also spoke out, accusing Hamas and other Gaza-based groups of obstructing aid delivery to those in need. They assisted in evacuating the injured veterans to a safer location for treatment.
GHF's Frustration
GHF expressed frustration that no one had spoken out against the threats and violence despite their weeks of warnings. They emphasized that Hamas had attacked American veterans while they were helping to feed the hungry.
Previous Threats and Ongoing Mission
This attack occurred just a week after GHF reported that Hamas had placed bounties on their workers' heads, offering money for anyone who harmed or killed GHF staff. The group insisted that their workers were solely focused on providing food to Gaza's population during the war.
Since May, GHF has delivered 60 million meals to Gaza. Despite the dangerous conditions, they remain committed to their humanitarian mission.
