Western North Carolina high schools are buzzing after a week of exciting sports. Students and fans alike can now vote for the top female athlete who delivered an outstanding performance last week. The voting deadline is Thursday noon.
The winner of last week’s spot was Lilly Lossiah from Cherokee, who lit up the court with 25 points to secure a third straight state title. Her effort earned her the Kay Yow Most Valuable Player award. Meanwhile, Easton Shuler from Robbinsville claimed the boys’ title in a separate poll.
Other standout athletes include Madison Rogers, who scored 25 points for Cherokee; Savannah Frisbee of Enka, who hit two home runs and struck out ten in a 7‑0 win; Addison Hobson from Mitchell, who tallied seven RBIs and two doubles in a 28‑24 victory; Addie Foust, the Pisgah catcher who hit a home run and a double while driving in six runs; Mary Green of Reynolds, who preserved a shutout with 14 saves; Ella Nelms from Robbinsville, who posted multiple no‑hit outings and a home run; Macy Craft of Smoky Mountain, who recorded a hat trick and multiple assists in shutout games; Ella Rousseau of West Henderson, who went 2‑5 with seven RBIs in a decisive win; and Evan Gerike, the reporter covering these events.
