Popular music producer Sean "Diddy" Combs will be in court on Thursday to discuss a possible trial date for his sex trafficking and racketeering case. His legal team wants the trial to begin in April or May of next year. The case involves a lot of electronic evidence, which the government is slowly giving to Combs' lawyers. The evidence includes material from Combs' phones, laptops, and hard drives. Prosecutors plan to share more evidence in the next month, such as information from his homes and a hotel room where he was staying before his arrest.
Combs' lawyers say they want a quick trial to prove his innocence. They claim that all sexual encounters mentioned in the case were consensual. Meanwhile, the US Attorney's Office says Combs forced women to have sex with male sex workers during what he called "Freak Offs," where he drugged and coerced the victims.
Combs' attorneys also accused the Department of Homeland Security of leaking grand jury information, which they believe could harm his right to a fair trial. Combs has pleaded not guilty and is currently being held without bail in a Brooklyn detention center, away from the general population.
