Ready for some festive fun? The Holiday Express event is back at Blackberry Farm in Aurora! This yearly tradition, happening since 2006, is set to kick off on Friday, November 10th. The Fox Valley Park District has planned something special for everyone, including a lower-sensory environment on Friday night for those with special needs. The event runs from 5 to 8 p. m. on Fridays and 2 to 7 p. m. on weekends until December 22nd. Tickets are $10 for everyone aged one and up, and that includes all the fun activities. You can ride the replica steam engine around Lake Gregory as many times as you like, and also hop on the holiday hay wagon. Becky Harling, the facility manager, says the event is popular because it offers a lot of family fun for a low cost. "It's a one-stop shop for holiday activities, " she adds. Last year, over 10, 000 people visited Holiday Express, and numbers are expected to be even higher this year. The park has seen an increase in attendance since COVID, and this trend is likely to continue. This year, there are new light displays and enhanced interior decorations to make the experience even better. Visitors often spend a few hours at the farm, enjoying more than just the train ride. There are holiday displays, coloring books, a North Pole Oasis with Santa, playgrounds, storytime, treats, and even a Holiday Village with crafts and music. Plus, there are plenty of spots for holiday photos.
