Hot and Humid Weekend Ahead: What to Expect

Boston, Massachusetts, USASun Jul 06 2025
The weekend is shaping up to be a scorcher. The heat is on, and it's going to feel even worse because of the humidity. The heat index, which combines the temperature and humidity, could make it feel like it's in the mid-90s. This has led to a Heat Advisory for most of the area on Sunday and Monday. Winds will pick up in the afternoon, especially near the coast. The night will still be warm and sticky, with temperatures only dropping to the upper 60s and low 70s. The heat isn't going anywhere on Monday. In fact, it's going to get even more humid. The day will start off dry, but as a cold front moves in, there's a chance for showers or even thunderstorms in the evening. This front will bring rain and storms early Tuesday, making the day unsettled. Rain chances will stick around for most of the work week, with daily chances for rain or thunderstorms until Thursday. Temperatures will start to cool down by midweek, with highs more in line with what we usually expect this time of year, in the upper 70s and low 80s. There's also Tropical Storm Chantal to keep an eye on. It formed off the coast of South Carolina and has made landfall. It's moving north-northeast and will eventually be pushed out to sea by the same cold front that's bringing rain to New England late Monday to early Tuesday. It could add more moisture to our forecast on Tuesday before it's swept away.
