How Health Metrics Impact COPD: A U. S. Study
USAThu Nov 14 2024
You might know that heart problems and COPD often go hand in hand. But did you know that a set of health measurements called Life’s Essential 8 (LE8) could also be connected to COPD? A recent study looked into this. They used data from a big U. S. health survey, the NHANES, from 2007 to 2018.
The researchers wanted to find out if following LE8 guidelines—which are designed to keep your heart healthy—could also help with COPD. LE8 includes things like a healthy diet, regular exercise, and not smoking.
They found that adults who followed these guidelines better had a lower risk of getting COPD. This means that keeping your heart healthy might also protect your lungs. Isn't that interesting?
But here's a thought: If you're already living with COPD, could these same guidelines help you manage your condition better? It's a question worth exploring.
