You might think that using more preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A) would boost live birth rates in IVF clinics. But a recent study says that's not the case. In fact, the opposite might be true, especially for younger women. The study looked at a lot of data from US IVF clinics, dividing them by age groups and clinic ownership types. Guess what? The clinics that used PGT-A the most didn't have the best live birth rates.
Younger patients, under 35, were the most affected. Also, the type of ownership matters. Clinics owned by investors or venture capitalists tended to use PGT-A more than those owned by private doctors or hospitals. So, PGT-A might be reducing chances of live births, especially for younger women. And it seems like business owners are pushing for more tests. Maybe it's time to rethink how much we're using this technology.
