Indonesia's Magma Entertainment: A New Wave of Films Unveiled

Magma Entertainment, a top Indonesian studio, is making big moves. At the Jogja-Netpac Asian Film Festival (JAFF) Market, they showed off their upcoming movies. The lineup includes some big names and exciting projects. First up, they gave a sneak peek of "Qodrat 2, " the follow-up to their 2022 hit. The director, producer, editor, and new executive producer were all there. They also premiered their horror film "The Damnation" ("Tumbal Darah"), their first co-production with Wahana Kreator and Sinemaku Pictures. Stars Martino Lio and Shallum Ratu Ke made it a must-see event. Magma, started by siblings Charles and Linda Gozali, has been around since 2003. Their new slate shows they're not slowing down. They've got "Qodrat 3" and "The Devil's Lair" franchise in the works. Plus, they're teaming up with Komet Production for a "Qodrat" spinoff called "Dance of the Damned. " Horror fans have a lot to look forward to. Along with "Jump Scare" and "Sumpah Pocong, " a remake of a Garuda Films classic, Magma has more Garuda Films remakes planned. These include "Lady in a Trap" ("Perempuan Dalam Pasungan"), "The Wedding" ("Ranjang Pengantin"), and "November Boys. " But it's not all scares. Magma has action films like "Perang Tanding, " "Death Trap, " "Luck, " and "Kampung Kubur, " a Korean co-production with producer Choi Yoon. Magma isn't just looking at home. They've got rights to the folktale "Timun Mas" from Studio Caravan. Producer Linda Gozali thinks it could be a hit internationally. They also hosted an action masterclass with experts Cecep Ruhian, Jonathan, and Teguh Raharjo.
