You've probably heard whispers that Intel's graphics processors (GPUs) are on their way out. But hold on, because Intel's team has a different story to tell. Their new Arc GPUs, especially the Arc B580, are flying off the shelves. So much so that they can't keep up with demand. Plus, there's a new Arc B570 coming out very soon. We haven't seen it yet, but the B580 blew us away, especially for the price. It's not perfect, but it's a solid choice, especially if you're looking for an entry-level GPU.
Michelle Johnston Holthaus, Intel's Interim Co-CEO, made it clear at the recent CES 2025. She said, straight up, that Intel is fully committed to the discrete GPU market and plans to invest more in the future. This isn't just talk—Intel needs graphics technology for its datacenter business too. And selling GPUs helps with that.
GPUs aren't just for games. They also handle video processing and AI tasks, which are big deals in both streaming services and AI accelerators. Think of NVIDIA's competition; they do this too.
But what's next? There are rumors about a new, bigger GPU, possibly named B770. This could be huge, but it depends on how it stacks up against NVIDIA's new RTX 5070 and AMD's upcoming RX 9070. Either way, it's good news that Intel is sticking with GPUs.
