A rumor spread like wildfire on social media in October 2024, saying Tesla CEO Elon Musk was planning to release a motor home priced under $17, 000. Shared on platforms like X, Facebook, Instagram, and even a Bangladeshi news site, the claim quickly gained traction. One TikTok video alone had millions of views and likes. People were especially excited due to Musk's reputation for game-changing innovations in electric cars and space exploration. The rumor suggested that the $17, 000 Tesla RV would offer an affordable, eco-friendly living solution on wheels.
However, this turned out to be false. There was no official announcement from Musk or Tesla about any such RV. In fact, on the same day the rumor appeared, Tesla showcased a Robovan concept, which wasn't described as an RV. The rumor likely originated from a speculative video by a channel named Voyager, which admits to creating content blending storytelling with scientific concepts. This isn't the first time the channel has spread misinformation about Tesla. Back in 2021, Musk mentioned the idea of solar-powered vans during an interview on "The Joe Rogan Experience" podcast. He discussed the potential for large, flat surfaces on vans to collect solar energy. Although this sparked interest in the camping community, it wasn't a concrete plan for a Tesla RV in 2025.
