Jake Gyllenhaal Takes On A Dark Role In Amazon's 'Collision'

Jake Gyllenhaal is diving into another intense role. This time, he's teaming up with Amazon for a project called "Collision. " It's based on a short story by Don Winslow. The story is part of a collection called "The Final Score. " Gyllenhaal will star in and produce the film. He's working with his Nine Stories partner Josh McLaughlin and The Story Factory's Shane Salerno.
The story is about a man with a good life. He makes one big mistake. This mistake lands him in prison. There, he learns to survive. But his troubles don't end when he gets out. He discovers why he was protected in prison. Then, he's sent on a mission that changes him forever.
This isn't the first time Gyllenhaal has worked with Winslow and Amazon. They're also working on "Crime 101. " It's based on another Winslow short story. The film will star Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, and Halle Berry. It's set to release in 2026.
Gyllenhaal recently starred in "Road House" for Amazon. The movie broke records on Prime Video. It had over 50 million viewers in its first two weekends. Because of this success, Amazon signed Gyllenhaal's production label to a first-look deal.
"The Final Score" is the title story in Winslow's collection. It's expected to be shopped to buyers after the July 4th holiday. Stephen King tweeted about the collection. He called it "the best crime fiction I've read in twenty years. " This tweet boosted sales. The book will be released by HarperCollins on September 17.
Gyllenhaal is also working on a second season of "Presumed Innocent" for Apple. The first season was one of Apple's most-watched dramas. He recently starred in "Othello" on Broadway with Denzel Washington. The play became the top-grossing play in Broadway history.
Winslow's work has attracted many big names. These include Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Ridley Scott. Gyllenhaal is represented by WME and Carlos Goodman. Winslow is represented by The Story Factory and CAA.
