Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria announced the new show at a recent event, noting that Mulaney's talent and originality make him a perfect fit for the platform. "Everybody's in LA" didn't draw a massive audience, but Bajaria sees it as a valuable learning experience. Now, the team wants to explore what a weekly live talk/variety show could look like. The live aspect is particularly interesting to Netflix, as it keeps audiences on their toes with unpredictable content. Netflix has struggled with talk shows in the past, but Bajaria believes in taking bold risks. Instead of shying away from challenges, the streaming service is eager to try new formats and ideas. Mulaney will wear multiple hats on the new show, serving as host, co-showrunner, and executive producer through his production company, Multiple Camera Productions. He's no stranger to Netflix, having previously released several Emmy-winning stand-up specials and a variety show on the platform. Netflix is also expanding its live programming with shows like "Hot Ones" and live sports events. By adding wrestling and NFL games to its roster, the streaming service aims to provide a diverse range of live content.
