Kansas basketball is now ranked 25th in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll. This is a drop from their previous position at 21st. The Jayhawks had a tough week, winning one game and losing another.
The Jayhawks are now 11-5 overall and 1-2 in the Big 12 conference. They had a big win at home against TCU but then lost at West Virginia. This performance caused them to drop four spots in the rankings.
The Big 12 conference is strong this year. Besides Kansas, the conference has teams like Arizona, Iowa State, Houston, BYU, and Texas Tech ranked in the top 15. Kansas will face Iowa State next, which is a big challenge.
Kansas has only lost one home game this season, which was against UConn. The Jayhawks are hoping to improve their defense and get back on track. They will need their home crowd to support them, especially against tough opponents like Iowa State.
Freshman guard Darryn Peterson has been playing, but the team hasn't gained much momentum. The defense needs to step up to help the Jayhawks win more games. Coach Bill Self's team will need to work hard to improve their performance.
