On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs faced a challenging game against the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers were relentless, especially in the fourth quarter. They tied the score with just under two minutes left, thanks to some strong plays from running back Chuba Hubbard.
Despite this late surge, the Chiefs’ star quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, stepped up when it mattered most. He scrambled for a 33-yard gain, setting up a crucial field goal. Spencer Shrader, filling in for the injured Harrison Butker, nailed the 31-yard kick as time expired, securing a 30-27 win for Kansas City.
Mahomes’ performance was stellar. He finished the game with 27 completions out of 37 attempts for 269 yards and three touchdowns. This impressive showing tied him with Len Dawson on the franchise’s all-time passing touchdowns list at 237. Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins and tight end Travis Kelce also made significant contributions, with Hopkins scoring a touchdown and Kelce racking up 62 receiving yards.
The Chiefs had a strong start, scoring on their first five possessions to lead 20-6 at halftime. However, two punts in the fourth quarter allowed the Panthers to come back and tie the game. Panthers quarterback Bryce Young played well under pressure, completing 21 of 35 passes for 263 yards and a touchdown.
Sadly, the Panthers’ tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders suffered a neck injury in the first half and had to be transported to a local hospital. The good news was that he had movement in his extremities.
With this win, the Chiefs improve to 10-1. They will face the Raiders on Black Friday, November 29, in a matchup that promises more exciting football. The Panthers, now 3-8, will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 13.
