Keira Knightley’s Views on 'Love Actually’s' Cue Cards Scene
Sat Dec 07 2024
Keira Knightley, now a global star, revealed in a recent interview that she found the famous cue cards scene from "Love Actually" a bit creepy. She was just 17 when filming began, making the unwanted romantic gesture from Andrew Lincoln's character feel more like stalking. Knightley shared that director Richard Curtis had to guide her to change her facial expressions so Lincoln’s character didn’t seem creepy.
Looking back, Knightley acknowledged the scene's controversial nature. She mentioned that it felt odd at the time, especially considering her age. Curtis, the director, has also admitted that the scene reads differently now, over a decade later. He believes the shift in perspective is a sign of a more progressive world.
Despite the mixed reactions, the cue cards scene has become one of Knightley’s most memorable moments on the big screen. She even recalled a real-life incident where construction workers mimicked the scene while stuck in traffic, finding it both creepy and sweet.
