Kids’ Day Out: Patriots Star and Wife Host Charity Softball Bash
Worcester, Massachusetts, USAMon Jun 01 2026
A famous football player from the New England area and his wife took a trip to Worcester’s Polar Park for a special softball event. The evening was all about helping children, with money raised for Boston’s Children Hospital and a family foundation that supports kids facing tough times. The couple said it was “for the kids” and praised everyone who helped make the night a success.
Before the games, the pair met reporters near first base and shared their plans to start a foundation, why they chose Worcester for the event, and how they managed to gather so many well‑known athletes. One player joked that he might have added a few extra skills to his lineup.
The softball match brought together players from the Patriots, the Worcester Red Sox, and a mix of athletes and entertainers. Among them were former college hockey star Will Smith, NHL goalie Zdeno Chara, and comedian Matt Rife. The Patriots’ coach led the team that included several of the quarterback’s brothers and teammates like Mack Hollins.
During a home‑run derby, former ice hockey player Will Smith struck the winning homer. The actual softball game saw a flurry of hits: Hollins launched a bat‑flipping home run, followed by three straight homers from new Patriots receiver Romeo Doubs, teammate Cole Maye and the quarterback himself. The wife hit a single to center field.
A rule change in the middle of the game gave each side an extra outfielder, which meant the Patriots’ team fell short by one run in a close 17‑16 finish. After the game, the couple thanked everyone and watched fireworks light up the night.
In total, more than $100, 000 was raised. The couple expressed gratitude for the turnout and emphasized that all proceeds go to children in need.
