Kim Kardashian Takes on a New Role in Upcoming Bratz Film
USAWed Jun 25 2025
Kim Kardashian is set to take on a new role as the villain in the upcoming Bratz movie, produced by Amazon MGM. This move comes as Hollywood continues to explore adaptations of popular children's toys, following the massive success of "Barbie. " The film aims to capture the magic of the beloved Bratz dolls, which have sold over 200 million units since their launch in 2001.
The script for the Bratz movie is being crafted by Charlie Polinger and Lucy McKendrick, with Erik Feig and Julia Hammer from Picturestart, along with Kardashian and Jason Larian and Jasmin Larian from MGA Entertainment, involved in the production. Isaac Larian will serve as the executive producer.
Kardashian, known for her reality TV show "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" and her loungewear brand Skims, has been expanding her acting portfolio. She recently appeared in "American Horror Story" and voiced characters in two "PAW Patrol" movies. Upcoming projects include leading the Netflix comedy "The Fifth Wheel" and starring in Ryan Murphy's drama "All Is Fair. "
The Bratz franchise has a strong social media presence, but its previous live-action movie in 2005 did not perform well at the box office. This new adaptation will need to overcome that history and appeal to both old and new fans.
Hollywood's interest in toy adaptations has surged since "Barbie" became a global phenomenon, grossing over $1. 44 billion in 2023. Other toy-based films in development include adaptations of Hot Wheels, Barney, Polly Pocket, and Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots.
