Anthony Kim returns to the top after a long break. He had been away from golf for 12 years because of an Achilles injury and personal problems. In March 2024 he joined the LIV Golf tour again.
Kim played his first round at Adelaide with a shaky start. He was five strokes behind the leaders, Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau. People thought he would finish well but not win.
On Sunday Kim shot a 63, nine under par. That score put him at minus twenty‑three for the tournament. He beat Rahm by three strokes. Rahm finished one under in his final round. DeChambeau had a 74 and tied for third at minus seventeen.
This is Kim’s first win in sixteen years. He had three PGA Tour victories before his injury: the AT&T National, Wachovia Championship and Shell Houston Open. He also helped win the 2008 Ryder Cup against Spain.
Kim’s return was hard to achieve. He needed a top‑three finish in the LIV Promotion event to re‑enter the league. He earned that spot on January 12. After a modest finish in Riyadh, he surprised everyone with the Adelaide victory.
His comeback shows resilience. Kim proved that a player can return from injury and personal setbacks to compete with the best.
