K‑Pop Giants Unite to Dream a Worldwide Festival
South Korea, GoyangFri Apr 17 2026
South Korean music powerhouses Hybe, YG Entertainment, SM Entertainment and JYP Entertainment are joining forces to build a new company that could host an international music festival featuring their stars.
The move comes after the four firms, all members of a government cultural committee, announced plans to form a joint venture aimed at promoting Korean music beyond borders.
JYP’s founder Park Jin‑young, who co‑chairs the committee, first revealed the “Fanomenon” concept in October. The name blends “fan” and “phenomenon, ” hinting at a large‑scale event that might compete with global festivals like Coachella.
Park said the goal is to stage the festival by December 2027, a date that signals ambition and confidence.
The agencies describe the partnership as a model for cooperation that could unlock new opportunities for Korean pop culture worldwide.
While the legal framework for the company is underway, the partners admit that detailed business plans and operational details are still being worked out.
They promise to make careful choices, taking market conditions and varied viewpoints into account before moving forward.
