Heavy rainfalls have caused serious flooding in Kruger National Park. Authorities decided to close the park to new visitors. This is to keep everyone safe. People already staying in lodges inside the park can stay. But some areas near the Letaba river had to be evacuated.
Videos show big parts of the park under water. Trees are sticking out. Hippos are swimming around. Roads are closed. Signs warn visitors to stay away.
This isn't the first time this has happened. Floods in southeastern Africa are getting worse. Climate change is making storms stronger. This means more rain and more flooding.
A spokesperson for Kruger said the water is moving fast. They closed the Phalaborwa gate. This is near the airport. They will check the situation and decide when to open it again.
The spokesperson also said not to worry about the animals. They usually move to higher ground during floods.
One tourist, Gerhard Ackerman, was enjoying the view from his lodge. He said it's nature's way of giving water back to the earth. He and others are finding a way to enjoy the situation.
