La Grange's Finance Department: A Puzzle

La Grange, IL, USAThu Nov 13 2025
There's a lot of uncertainty around who's managing the money in La Grange. Until recently, Suzy Mika was listed as the finance director on the village's website, even though she left her job six months ago. After some questions were asked, her name was taken down and replaced with Annmarie Mampe, who's working as a contract finance director. Annmarie Mampe has a similar job in Burr Ridge, but that one is permanent. In La Grange, things are not so clear. The village board hasn't said much about what's happening with the finance director's position. They're not even advertising for the job. Things got even more confusing when the accounting manager position became empty in August. A new person is starting soon, but it's not clear if this will solve the problem. The village hired MGT Impact Solutions to fill the finance director role temporarily. This was supposed to last about four months and cost up to $48, 025. But now, they're thinking about extending this arrangement. The village manager, Jack Knight, says they're still looking for a permanent solution. The village is also making some improvements to the finance department's processes. They're lucky to have help from MGT consultants to manage these changes and handle daily tasks. But will this be enough? Only time will tell.

questions

Is the village intentionally keeping the finance director position temporary to avoid scrutiny from a permanent employee?
Is the village considering a 'finance director of the month' club to handle the position?
What specific improvements to departmental processes are being implemented that have delayed the hiring of a permanent finance director?
