The Producers Guild of America has decided to postpone the announcement of their annual awards nominations due to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles. The announcement, originally set for a different date, will now take place on Sunday, January 12. This decision comes after the guild extended the voting window by two days, closing it on Saturday, January 11, to give members more time to cast their votes.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences also adjusted their schedule, moving the Oscar nominations announcement from January 17 to January 19. They extended the voting period by two days as well, ending at 5 p. m. PT on January 14. Additionally, the Writers Guild of America Awards pushed their nominations announcement to Monday, January 13, due to the fires.
Since the fires started on Tuesday, nearly 2, 000 structures have been destroyed. Sadly, five people have lost their lives, and five firefighters have been injured. The fires have forced tens of thousands of people from their homes, with over 37, 000 acres burned.
