The National Weather Service has issued warnings about high winds, big waves, and even possible waterspouts for Lake Erie this week. In addition, a low water advisory is in place, indicating that the lake's water levels are lower than usual.
Wave Forecast
- October 22: Waves could reach 3 to 9 feet, with winds up to 34.5 miles per hour.
- October 23: Waves may decrease but could still reach up to 5 feet.
- October 24: Waves should calm slightly but could still be as high as 5 feet.
- October 25: Conditions should improve, with waves around 2 feet or less.
Additional Hazards
- Waterspouts: These are tornado-like formations over water, usually short-lived but potentially dangerous. They often form when cold air moves over warm water, creating a significant temperature difference.
- Gale Warning: Winds are expected to blow between 39 to 55 miles per hour for at least two hours. This warning is in effect through the night of October 22.
