Lakers' Road Trip Blunder: A Look at the Jazz Game
Thu Feb 13 2025
The Lakers faced the Utah Jazz in a game that was supposed to be a breeze. They were missing key players and heading into the All-Star break. This game was a trap, and the Lakers got trapped. They lost big time in the second half. The Jazz took control and the Lakers couldn't do much to stop them.
Rui Hachimura had a decent game. He scored 19 points and made a few 3-pointers. But his rebounding was bad, and his defense was not good. When the team is playing poorly, Rui needs to step up more. He got a C grade.
LeBron James didn't seem interested in this game. He scored 18 points but didn't do much else. He seemed to give up when the team started struggling in the second quarter. This was one of his worst performances of the season. He got a D grade.
Luka Dončić had some nice moments. He scored 16 points and made a few 3-pointers. He's still getting used to playing with the Lakers and needs more time to find his rhythm. He got a C grade.
Austin Reaves had a tough night. He scored 15 points but missed a lot of shots, especially from 3-point range. He also missed a couple of free throws. His defense was not good either. He got a D grade.
Jarred Vanderbilt didn't have much impact. He couldn't finish near the rim and made little defensive impact. The Jazz scored a lot of points while he was on the floor. He got an F grade.
Alex Len had a rough game. He scored 4 points and made 2 turnovers. He looked out of place on the court. He's more of a bench player and shouldn't be on the court for long periods. He got an F grade.
Shake Milton had a good night. He scored 9 points and made a couple of 3-pointers. He didn't negatively impact the team. He got a B grade.
Jordan Goodwin had a bad game. He scored 3 points and couldn't stop the ball. His offense was not good. He got a C grade.
Dalton Knecht had a solid game. He scored 10 points and made a few 3-pointers. He handled the situation well. He got an A grade.
Bronny James, Jaxson Hayes, Markieff Morris, Christian Koloko didn't play long enough to get a grade. Hayes got hurt and missed most of the game. Bronny scored a few points in garbage time.
JJ Redick didn't yell or shout in this loss. He realized the team was tired and gave them some grace. The Lakers have been playing well, and this loss shouldn't erase all that. He got a B grade.
The Lakers had some key players missing. Dorian Finney-Smith, Trey Jemison III, Cam Reddish, Maxi Kleber, and Gabe Vincent were all out. The Lakers need to step up their game and focus on the next match.
