Lando Norris: Chill Before the Storm

Lando Norris is taking the upcoming Qatar Grand Prix in stride, even though it could be the race that decides the championship. He's not sweating the competition, seeing both his teammate Oscar Piastri and Red Bull's Max Verstappen as equal threats, despite their recent performances. Norris is currently leading the championship by 24 points over both Piastri and Verstappen. This lead could have been even bigger if McLaren hadn't been disqualified from the last race in Las Vegas due to illegal car modifications. Norris admits it was a tough blow, but he's moved on quickly and is focused on the task at hand. During a media event, Norris seemed relaxed and confident. He's been enjoying some downtime, playing golf and padel, and soaking up the warm weather. He's not letting the pressure of the championship get to him. Norris insists that he's feeling good and is excited for the race weekend. Despite Norris' calm demeanor, the situation in Vegas has put a spotlight on Verstappen's impressive late-season surge. McLaren has stated they won't be using team orders to protect Norris' lead unless one of their drivers is off the podium. Verstappen has been on a tear since the summer break, winning four of the last six races. Meanwhile, Piastri's form has dropped off significantly. Norris, however, isn't writing off either driver. He believes both are capable of winning and sees them as equal threats. When asked if Verstappen's recent form has increased the pressure, Norris pointed out that his lead over Piastri was the same before the Las Vegas race. He doesn't think anything needs to change in their approach. Norris is confident in his and McLaren's abilities and is ready to give both Verstappen and Piastri a run for their money.
