Lansing Bakery Takes a Big Bite Out of Online Success
Nikki Thompson Frazier, owner of Sweet Encounter Bakery & Cafe, secures $35,000 investment without appearing on TV.
A Bold Move Pays Off
Sweet Encounter Bakery & Cafe recently made a significant shift—closing their downtown storefront to focus on selling cupcakes in a jar online. This risky move proved to be a game-changer when Nikki Thompson Frazier pitched her business plan at the Shark Tank Summit in Las Vegas, impressing the judges and walking away with $35,000 in investment.
Pitching to the Sharks
Thompson Frazier was one of only three entrepreneurs selected to pitch at the event. Standing before Daymond John, Kevin O'Leary, and actress Tabitha Brown, she had just 90 seconds to convince them her business was worth investing in. Thousands watched as she delivered a winning pitch, securing the investment.
A Pro at Pitching
This isn’t Thompson Frazier’s first victory. In 2021, she won a local pitch competition, earning her a year of rent-free business space. Her experience in pitching has honed her skills, making her a standout at the Shark Tank Summit.
Expanding the Brand
The shift to online sales has already paid off, with increased online orders and the addition of new equipment. Thompson Frazier isn’t stopping there—she plans to:
- Release baking mixes
- Write a cookbook
- Launch a YouTube channel
A New Chapter Ahead
With her downtown lease ending soon, Sweet Encounter is searching for a new property to buy. Thompson Frazier is ready for the next big step, envisioning an even brighter future for her bakery—now with the support of the Shark Tank judges.
