Latin Music Powerhouses Join Forces
ArgentinaFri Mar 07 2025
Two big names in Latin music just became even bigger. Rimas Entertainment, the top independent label in the 2024 Billboard charts, has picked up a big chunk of Dale Play Records. This Argentine label is home to some big names like DJ Bizarrap and rapper Duki. Sony Music Latin Iberia is still part of the deal, keeping some of its stake in Dale Play.
This isn't just a simple business deal. It's a meeting of two powerhouses that have changed how Latin music is made and shared around the world. Rimas, based in Puerto Rico, and Dale Play, from Argentina, both focus on urban Spanish music and have big plans to go global. Rimas has already expanded its artist roster beyond Puerto Rico, signing artists from Spain and Mexico.
Fede Lauria, the founder of Dale Play, will keep running the show as CEO but with a smaller share of the company. The Orchard, which has been distributing Dale Play for years, will continue to do so. The deal doesn't include Dale Play's other business areas, like booking and management, which will stay under Lauria's control.
This partnership is about more than just music. It's about bringing together two companies that share the same values and goals. Both Rimas and Dale Play are all about supporting artists and helping them grow. They want to break new ground and create opportunities for their artists and teams.
The collaboration between Rimas and Dale Play has been going on for a while. They have a long history of working together and have been discussing a possible partnership for years. The friendship between Fede Lauria and Noah Assad, the CEO of Rimas, goes way back to Bad Bunny's early days. Lauria booked Bunny's small venues in Buenos Aires and still promotes his big shows today.
The partnership is all about expanding their reach and discovering new talent. Both labels have been at the forefront of finding new artists, and now they can do it on a global scale. They want to support and develop the next generation of stars, no matter where they come from.
The deal is a big step for both companies. It's about more than just music; it's about culture and community. Both labels have been a big part of a cultural movement, and together, they have the power to shape the future of Latin music.
