A group of four House Democrats has traveled to El Salvador. Their mission? To fight for the release of Kilmar Ábrego García. This man has been stuck in El Salvador since March. The lawmakers are Yassamin Ansari, Maxine Dexter, Maxwell Frost, and Robert Garcia. They arrived in El Salvador recently. Before them, Senator Chris Van Hollen from Maryland visited the country. These politicians are determined to meet with Ábrego García. They want to understand his situation better and advocate for his release. The case of Ábrego García has become a big deal. It's a fight between the Trump administration and the supreme court. The court says the government should help Ábrego García return to the US. But the administration says it can't do that. They claim they don't have the power to release him from foreign custody. Ábrego García had been living in the US for over a decade. He had legal protection that should have stopped his deportation. But an error led to his removal to El Salvador. He was even put on a plane with alleged gang members. Now, he's in a prison there. The conditions in this prison have been criticized for being inhumane. The Trump administration admits there was a mistake. But they say they won't bring Ábrego García back to his wife and disabled child in Maryland. They claim he was involved in serious crimes.
