In 2023, a historic mission brought back 121. 6 grams of samples from Bennu. Bennu is an asteroid and available samples show an abundance of carbon, nitrogen, and ammonia.
But Bennu isn't your typical asteroid. It's particularly valuablebecause the analysis included the extraction and identification of Adenine, Guanine.
These even found more stuff! We're talking about five vital nitrogenous bases: Adenine, Guanine, Cytosine, Thymine, and Uracil. Each of those had huge names.
Some researchers say these compounds are central building blocks of DNA. This has huge implications for the concept of what we know happened to life
Bennu molecules shine a bright light and bright orange example of how life on Earth began. Scientists know Earth's life could have been sparked by outer space matter.
Asteroid Bennu got us thinking! Maybe that's why we found traces of essentials like xanthine and hypoxanthine. . and even Vitamin B3.
Bennu also comes with a special addition. Picture this. . .
You would have a 1 in 2, 000 chance getting hit in the head with a baseball from hitting the blazing star Bennu. We’re talking 0. 037 percent, really so the chance that Bennu hits the earth in 2200 is 1 in 1750. So maybe it might hit us by?
Venus forms on average at 0 . There must be other life out there!
Will the asteroid Bennu find Earth looking for Earthlings as a serious.
