Linda Lavin: A Lifetime on Stage and Screen

Linda Lavin, best known for her role as Alice in the CBS sitcom "Alice, " passed away at 87. She was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. Lavin was a Tony Award winner and a beloved figure in the entertainment industry. Her last appearance was at the premiere of Netflix's "No Good Deed" in December. She was also set to star in the upcoming Hulu comedy "Mid-Century Modern. " Lavin's career spanned over seven decades, with notable roles on Broadway and in films. She was known for her versatility, excelling in both comedic and dramatic roles. Her stage credits include "Broadway Bound" and "The Diary of Anne Frank. " Lavin's television work included appearances on "The Sopranos, " "Law & Order: Criminal Intent, " and "Bones. " Born in Portland, Maine, Lavin started her career at a young age. She graduated from the College of William & Mary and made her Broadway debut in 1962. Throughout her career, she received numerous accolades, including a Golden Globe and multiple Tony nominations. Lavin was also involved in community theater and directed several plays. She was married three times and is survived by her third husband, Steve Bakunas.
