Lizzo has recently addressed a lawsuit filed by three former dancers, sharing her perspective on a night out at an Amsterdam club called Bananenbar. The "Juice" singer, who is 36, spoke about the incident for the first time during an appearance on the "Baby, This Is Keke Palmer" podcast. She explained that she invited her dancers to join her at the club, which features exotic performers. Lizzo emphasized that the night was consensual, with performers asking for permission before any interactions.
Lizzo detailed that she wasn't sure who would show up after extending the invitation. She mentioned that 17 people joined her, and they all had a great time. She stressed that everything that happened was consensual, and the performers would move on if someone said "No. " The singer also highlighted that there was no mandatory invitation, and only two of the three dancers mentioned in the lawsuit were present.
The lawsuit, which includes allegations of sexual, religious, and racial harassment, as well as disability discrimination and false imprisonment, paints a different picture. The attorney representing the plaintiffs argued that there was a power dynamic at play, and the dancers might have felt pressured to accept the invitation from their boss.
Lizzo firmly denied all the claims, insisting that everything was consensual and that the club has a long history of consensual interactions. The case is set to be presented in court, where Lizzo will have to testify under oath.
