Southeastern Louisiana University is gearing up for a big week of events to honor veterans. The highlight? A special lecture on Veterans Day, November 11th, at 11 a. m. in the Student Union Theatre. The guest speaker is retired U. S. Army Lt. Gen. Russel L. Honoré, who's got a lot of stories to share. He's a big deal in leadership and disaster management, especially after Hurricane Katrina. You might know him as the "Category 5 General. " But that's not all. The university is pulling out all the stops for Veterans Week. There's a military banquet happening that evening, with U. S. Air Force General Amy Bumgarner as the keynote speaker. She's an alumna, so it's a big deal for the school. Plus, there are plenty of other activities planned by the Office of Military and Veterans Success, led by Captain Emily Anthony. The History and Political Science Department is also getting involved. They're highlighting the university's 100-year history with the military. It's a chance to reflect on the past and honor those who've served. If you're interested in learning more, you can reach out to the History and Political Science Department at (985) 549-2109. It's a great opportunity to show support and gain some insight into the military world.
