In the Star Wars universe, the first alien we meet from a species often shapes our view of them. Yoda, for example, was a powerful Force user, and so are all other members of his species we've met. Similarly, Jabba the Hutt's appearance in Return of the Jedi led us to think all Hutts are lazy crime lords. But this wasn't always the case.
Back in 1997, a novel called Planet of Twilight introduced a unique Hutt. This Hutt, named Beldorion, was unusual because he was a Jedi. In fact, he was the only known Hutt Jedi. However, he fell to the dark side and became a tyrannical ruler. Centuries later, he kidnapped Princess Leia and they had a lightsaber duel.
This forgotten story might be relevant to the upcoming 'Mandalorian & Grogu' movie. A new character, Jabba's son Rotta, is said to be "buff. " While buff Hutts are rare, Beldorion was strong enough to duel Leia. This could inspire Rotta's character. The movie is set around the same time as Planet of Twilight, so there's room for connection.
Rotta could be Force-sensitive, looking for Grogu, or ruling a planet like Beldorion. He might not be a perfect subversion of Jabba, but he could make the galaxy more interesting.
