A Nashville theme park gets a green light from a famous comedian

A well-known stand-up comic who grew up in Tennessee is putting money into a big new project. Nate Bargatze, who tours sold-out rooms every year, once worked at a smaller theme park that closed years ago. That early job stuck with him. Now he wants to build a $350 million park called Nateland. It won’t just sell tickets—it aims to give families a place to relax and make lasting memories. Bargatze said his comedy career often feels like it revolves around him. Performing everywhere from tiny clubs to giant stadiums gives him plenty of stage time, but he wanted to do something that involves others even when he’s not on stage. He chose Nashville because he grew up there and remembers the old Opryland park fondly. The new park will blend his hometown’s culture with modern rides and shows.
He also used the same “family first” idea for his first movie, “The Breadwinner. ” The story follows a dad who suddenly becomes the main caregiver for his three daughters after his wife lands a big deal on a business show. Instead of jokes about his own kids, the film asks what happens when roles flip at home and how dads hold things together. It’s a quiet shift from his usual on-stage style. Tickets to his movie will cost less than usual. Bargatze asked theaters to offer a “Nate rate, ” a smaller price so more people can afford to go. He pointed out that everything costs more these days, and he’d rather fill seats than leave families out because of ticket prices.
