A Neighborhood Fight Against Hate

Oak Park, IL, USA,Tue Jun 16 2026
Oak Park police are looking into a case of vandalism that carries an antisemitic message. The incident happened on Wednesday in the 300 block of Home Avenue, and detectives have searched the area and checked security video footage. The investigation is under criminal damage to property, but authorities say hate‑crime charges could be added if the evidence supports it. Village President Vicki Scaman said that “acts of antisemitism have no place in Oak Park. ”
She added that the town takes pride in being a welcoming, diverse community and that such incidents hurt not only those directly targeted but the whole Jewish population and all residents who value inclusion. Oak Park police are collaborating with nearby departments to spot any patterns or similar acts in the region. If anyone has information, they can call 708‑386‑3800 or email police@oak-park. us.
