A New Museum in LA Lets Fans Dive Into Star Wars and More
Exposition Park, Los Angeles, USATue Jun 02 2026
The long‑awaited Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles will open on Sept. 22, offering visitors a chance to step into a world where famous Star Wars vehicles and other iconic pieces are on display.
Instead of following the usual order, this rewrite starts by highlighting that the museum will feature Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder and General Grievous’ wheel bike, two objects that have captured the imagination of fans for decades.
Beyond the galaxy‑far‑away exhibits, the museum spans over 100, 000 square feet and will house more than 1, 200 works chosen from an initial collection of over 40, 000 items. The building itself is a futuristic structure covering 300, 000 square feet on an 11‑acre site in Exposition Park.
The opening shows a mix of themes: family, community, work, politics and adventure. Artists such as Norman Rockwell, Frank Frazetta, Maxfield Parrish, Thomas Hart Benton and N. C. Wyeth will be highlighted in these themed shows.
Lucas, who first announced the museum in 2017, says it is “the people’s art” and will focus on storytelling across comics, manga, children’s books and cinema. The museum aims to trace how stories shape human culture from ancient art to modern films.
The venue’s 30 galleries will host roughly 20 initial exhibitions, including the Star Wars in Motion showcase that brings life‑size ships and vehicles to life for fans to explore.
