The restaurant’s owners, Laurie and Jeff Ubben, already admired Baird’s work after a mutual friend introduced them. They quickly agreed to sponsor the program, saying that Baird’s actions match her words and inspire their own business. The Ubbens do not reveal how much they are investing, but other backers include Universal Music Group and the PATH Foundation. Jeff Ubben, who once led Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, believes television can change habits.
