Marcellus Wiley, a well-known NFL player turned sports media figure, now faces allegations of sexual misconduct from multiple women, stretching back decades. Four new accusers recently joined forces with three others who filed lawsuits earlier, claiming Wiley raped or assaulted them between the mid-1990s and early 2000s. The lawsuits argue that Columbia University knew about some of these incidents but took weak action, letting Wiley continue his career without consequences. Some women say Wiley targeted them when they were very young—one claims he started grooming her at 13 during his time with the Buffalo Bills. He allegedly befriended her through gifts, visits, and even inviting her to his home before raping her on her 18th birthday. Another accuser, who worked in TV production, says Wiley lured her to his hotel room under false pretenses, then assaulted her so violently she feared for her life. Two others allege Wiley raped them in California in the late '90s, including one victim who says she never reported it due to shame. A fourth says she reported her assault to police but no charges were filed.Wiley, who starred at Columbia before becoming an NFL player and later a sports commentator, denies the allegations. His legal team called the first lawsuit "baseless, " and court filings rejected claims of misconduct. Yet the lawsuits argue that Columbia failed to protect students by putting Wiley on "academic probation" instead of taking stronger action. Some believe the university’s leniency allowed him to build a successful career while putting others at risk. The case isn’t just about Wiley—it’s about institutions that shield powerful figures. If Columbia had acted differently in the past, some victims say these assaults might never have happened. Now, one accuser is pushing for a class-action lawsuit against both Wiley and Columbia, with a hearing scheduled for May.
