Looks like there's a new storm brewing in the Atlantic. The National Hurricane Center says this system could get stronger as it heads towards the Caribbean this week. They're calling it AL94, and it's currently causing some messy showers and thunderstorms in the central Atlantic. Experts think it might become a tropical depression by the time it reaches the Leeward Islands later this week.
But let's not forget, this isn't just any storm. We're in an "above-normal" hurricane season, which means we could see more storms like this one. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration warned us about this back in June. They said we could expect between eight to 13 hurricanes and 17 to 25 named storms this year.
As of now, we've already had nine hurricanes, four of which were major ones. And if that wasn't enough, five of them have hit the U. S. , including a Category 4 and a Category 3 hurricane. These powerful storms have left many communities in the Southeast struggling.
So, what does this mean for us? Well, there's still about seven weeks left in the hurricane season, so it's important to stay alert. Keep an eye on the news and be prepared. Remember, safety first!
