Interestingly, it happened while rare January wildfires hit Los Angeles. The storm was expected to continue northeast, possibly bringing more snow and freezing rain to states like Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia. Governors like Brian Kemp in Georgia and Josh Stein in North Carolina declared emergencies. Some cities, like Richmond, Virginia, even had boil-water advisories due to storm-caused power outages.
