Aerodrome Finance, a major player in the decentralized exchange world, recently faced a troubling incident. Hackers managed to hijack the main website domains, redirecting users to fake sites designed to steal their crypto. This type of attack, known as a front-end attack, tricks users into signing harmful transactions.
The good news is that the actual smart contracts, which handle user funds, were not compromised. However, the team is still figuring out if any users lost money. They are advising everyone to avoid the main domains, aerodrome. finance and aerodrome. box, and use decentralized alternatives instead.
This is not the first time Aerodrome has dealt with such attacks. Earlier in 2023, similar incidents led to losses of around $300, 000. Despite this, the AERO token's price has remained steady, even showing a slight increase.
The team is actively working to resolve the issue and has asked the domain provider, My. box, to look into the problem. They are also urging users to revoke any recent token approvals and be extra cautious with any transactions from unverified sources.
