Ali Truwit’s Rise: A Story of Triumph
USAWed May 20 2026
A short film called “Stronger Than You Think” has caught the eye of Sox Entertainment, which will now handle its distribution. The documentary follows 26‑year‑old swimmer Ali Truwit, who stunned the world at the Paris Paralympics in 2024. Less than a year after losing her lower‑left leg to a shark attack while swimming in the Caribbean, she returned to compete and earned two silver medals.
Truwit’s background adds depth to her story: she recently graduated from Yale with degrees in cognitive science and behavioral economics, and had already competed for the university’s swim team. Her resilience has turned her into a sought‑after brand ambassador, partnering with companies like Nike and speaking for Amazon, Merck, and Bank of America.
Beyond sponsorships, she launched a nonprofit named “Stronger Than You Think” to inspire women and girls facing setbacks. The film, directed by Emmy winners Janice C. Molinari and Melissa Forman and produced by Allez! Sports, aims to motivate viewers who are fighting their own battles. Truwit says the message is simple: everyone possesses more strength than they realize.
The documentary has already earned accolades, winning audience and best‑documentary awards at festivals in Austin, Beaufort, and the Garden State. It will travel to events in Nashville, Newport Beach, Sedona, Beverly Hills, Chicago, New York, and a sports‑focused festival. Sox Entertainment’s leader, Scott Koondel, expressed excitement about sharing Truwit’s journey with a wide audience across media platforms.
Truwit continues to push boundaries, having run the New York City Marathon with a prosthetic blade and graced Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit spreads for two years. She is slated to release a book in 2028 and is expected to compete again at the Los Angeles Paralympics in 2028.
