Amazon changes its TV brand name but keeps the same software
Amazon, USASat May 09 2026
Amazon is giving its smart TVs a new name. Instead of Fire TV, they will now be called Ember TVs. The change mostly affects the physical TVs Amazon makes itself. Other brands that use Amazon’s software will still sell their devices under the Fire TV name. This could make it easier for shoppers to tell which TVs are made by Amazon and which are just using the software.
The new Ember brand includes several TV lines. There’s the Ember Artline, designed to look like a piece of art. Then there’s the Ember 32-inch 2-Series, the Ember 4-Series 4K, the Ember QLED Series, and the Ember Mini-LED Series. The only real difference is the name on the box. The hardware inside stays the same, and the TVs are still made by the same manufacturers.
Fire TV isn’t disappearing completely. It’s just moving from the TV’s label to the software running inside. The Fire TV operating system will still power Amazon-made TVs and third-party models. Devices like the Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Cube keep their old names. So, if you buy a streaming stick, it will still say Fire TV on it.
Along with the name change, Amazon updated the Fire TV interface. The new design has smoother corners, brighter colors, and better spacing. It also runs faster, with Amazon claiming a 20% to 30% speed boost. The goal seems to be making the software feel fresh while keeping the hardware familiar.
The rebranding might confuse some buyers. People used to seeing Fire TV on every Amazon device now have to look for Ember on the TVs themselves. But the software experience remains tied to the Fire TV name. It’s a small shift, but it could help Amazon stand out in a crowded market of smart TVs.
