Apple has just given its popular iMac a big boost. The new machine comes with a powerful M4 chip, which Apple says is twice as fast as the original M1 version. This update is part of Apple's "Mac week, " where they're rolling out new features and hardware. The iMac now starts at $1, 299 and comes with a 24-inch 4K display. It's perfect for those who need a lot of screen real estate. Above the screen, you'll find a 12-megapixel webcam that's built for Apple's Centerstage feature, which keeps you in the frame during video calls.
On the back, the iMac has four faster Thunderbolt 4 ports for quick data transfer. Apple has also updated its keyboard, mouse, and trackpad accessories to use USB-C, ditching the old Lightning connector. This is a big deal because USB-C is more common and generally works better. The base model comes with an 8-core CPU, an 8-core GPU, and 16GB of memory. But you can upgrade it to have 32GB of memory, up to 2TB of storage, and even a nano-texture display to reduce glare. There's also a more expensive option starting at $1, 499 that comes with a 10-core CPU and GPU. The new iMacs will start shipping on November 8th in a variety of colors like green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and the classic silver.
