Art, Wine, and Sparkling Surprises in Aspen

Aspen, CO, USAThu Jun 18 2026
Artists from New York are heading to the mountains for a short‑term showcase that ties art, fashion and luxury together. From June 19 to 24, visitors can stroll through a pop‑up that opens at eleven in the morning and closes at five. The venue, located on East Hyman Avenue, will display a collection of champagne bottles turned into colorful canvases by the self‑taught painter Ashley Longshore. Longshore’s work is known for its bright hues, playful references to pop culture and a critique of consumerism. In addition to the gallery, the evening of June 19 will host a launch party for the Buddha Mama Mountain Residency. The event is free and requires a RSVP, giving locals a chance to mingle with the artist and jewelry designers. Longshore, who grew up in Alabama before moving to New York City, has a history of blending fine art with commercial projects. She was the first woman to hold a solo show at Bergdorf Goodman’s flagship store, and she has also designed a café there.
Her partnership with Buddha Mama began through shared connections; the jewelry brand, run by Nancy and Dakota Badia, has called Aspen its second home for over a quarter of a century. The duo praised Longshore’s energy and creativity, noting that her presence adds excitement to the residency launch. Beyond painting, Longshore has written five books, including an upcoming title that reimagines U. S. presidents as drag performers. She also runs a charitable trust and awards a $25, 000 scholarship each year through YoungArts, while serving on the advisory board of The American Theatre Wing and voting for the Tony Awards. Her upcoming Aspen visit is an opportunity to connect with a new audience and celebrate the city’s Food & Wine Classic, a major regional event that attracts food lovers from around the world. Longshore’s blend of visual art, literary projects and philanthropic work demonstrates how contemporary artists can engage communities on multiple levels.
