Artists Get a Boost from Google's AI Training Fund

Google. org is putting $2 million into teaching AI skills to artists. This money will help over 100, 000 artists learn the basics of AI. The Sundance Institute, The Gotham, and Film Independent are teaming up to make this happen. They call it the AI Literacy Alliance. The Sundance Institute will lead this effort. They will offer free online courses, scholarships, and a special fellowship for artists. This is part of Google. org’s AI Opportunity Fund. The goal is to make AI skills common for artists, not just a special skill. Only a few media companies are teaching AI right now. Many feel the changes in AI are happening too fast. Google is also giving artists early access to Flow, an AI tool for filmmaking. They launched "AI on Screen" with Range Media Partners to explore AI themes in films.This isn't the first time Google has worked with filmmakers. Last year, they collaborated on a short film called "Ancestra. " It mixed live-action with AI-generated scenes. Experts say this training could change how artists work. It might help them prototype ideas, manage budgets, and be more creative. Hollywood is divided on AI. Some are excited, while others have concerns. Issues like consent, misuse, and creative control are big topics. A group called the Creators Coalition on AI is pushing for rules. They want clear guidelines on how AI is used in entertainment. Some actors are taking steps to protect their likeness. Matthew McConaughey trademarked his famous phrase. Others, like Ben Affleck, think AI is good for certain tasks. They believe AI won't replace human creativity but can help in some areas.
